Organically cured sheepskins on locally sourced quality timbers make our Cumbrian Rocking Sheep stand out from the flock!

This is a hand crafted toy that is also a piece of furniture and will be loved and handed down from generation to generation.

Each of our rocking sheep is unique - no two are the same! I use sheepskins from the only Organic Certified tannery in the British Isles. The skins are from varying breeds so each has it’s own unique feel and look. They are all incredibly thick, soft and cosy and are hard-wearing and will last a lifetime, and more...

I try to keep the woodwork simple yet elegant and nicely proportioned. I use locally sourced beech for the rocking structure and various other hardwoods for the face and legs. I try to use natural features in the timber to suggest facial features and prefer to leave the rest to a young imagination to build a character - very much in the Steiner philosophy. My goal is to create a lovely rocking sheep with minimal environmental impact and maximum joy and fun for the lucky little boy or girl.

The idea sprung from building one for my 2 year-old little girl at Christmas and the first one was loved by her, admired by all and is still a thoroughly useful and lovely piece of furniture in our living room.
